Charter Flight Brings 282 Bangladeshi Workers Home

A total of 282 Bangladeshi nationals have begun their journey home from Bahrain aboard a special chartered flight, in a coordinated effort facilitated by the Bangladesh Embassy in Manama. The flight departed on Friday morning, marking a significant initiative to assist expatriate workers returning to their homeland.

According to officials at the embassy, the special service was arranged in collaboration with Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier. The aircraft departed at approximately 9:00 a.m., carrying all 282 passengers on a route that includes a transit stop in Dammam before continuing onward to Dhaka. The operation underscores ongoing efforts to support migrant workers, many of whom face logistical challenges when attempting to return home through regular commercial routes.

Prior to departure, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Bahrain, Md Rais Hasan Sarower, met with the passengers at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Manama. During the gathering, the ambassador exchanged views with the expatriates, listened to their concerns, and extended his best wishes for a safe and smooth journey. He also expressed appreciation to Gulf Air authorities for their cooperation in organising the special flight.

Officials noted that such charter arrangements are often made to address urgent travel needs, including the return of workers who may have completed their contracts, faced employment disruptions, or encountered personal emergencies. The initiative reflects the embassy’s continued commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Bangladeshi citizens abroad.

The passengers on board represent a cross-section of the expatriate community in Bahrain, many of whom have contributed significantly to both the host country’s economy and Bangladesh’s remittance inflows. Their return is expected to ease personal and financial uncertainties while enabling reintegration with their families.

Below is a summary of the key details of the chartered flight:
