Child Killed in BNP MP’s Convoy Accident in Chakaria

A tragic accident in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar, has claimed the life of an eight-year-old boy this Sunday afternoon. The child, identified as Khaled Bin Walid, was fatally struck by a vehicle in the convoy of local Member of Parliament Alamgir Mohammad Mahfuz Ullah Farid. The incident occurred in the Ahmed Kabir Ghat area of Badrkhali Union.

Khaled was the son of Aman Ullah, a local expatriate residing in the area. The young boy was a second-grade student at the nearby Nurani Madrasa. His sudden death has cast a pall of grief over the local community, triggering both sorrow and outrage among residents.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident took place around 5:00 pm, as the MP’s convoy was passing through Badrkhali. One of the convoy vehicles ran over Khaled, causing severe injuries. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Following the incident, local residents attempted to halt the convoy by parking a dump truck on the road, temporarily stopping several vehicles. However, one vehicle continued towards the Badrkhali naval police outpost. Later, with the assistance of local BNP leaders, the convoy vehicles were allowed to proceed.

The incident has drawn widespread attention on social media. A video showing Khaled’s mother grieving over her child went viral. In the clip, she clutches him to her chest and repeatedly pleads, “Wake up, my son… wake up…”, eliciting a heart-rending response from viewers.

Chakaria police officer-in-charge Mohammad Monir Hossain confirmed the accident, stating, “The child was killed after being run over by a vehicle in the MP’s convoy. The vehicle involved has been seized, and the situation is now under control.” Multiple attempts to contact MP Alamgir Mohammad Mahfuz Ullah for comment were unsuccessful.
