A wintry ambience is sweeping across the country, and the slight drop in temperature has increased the chill in Dhaka. On Thursday at 6am, the temperature in the capital was recorded at 17.8°C, with humidity at 84 percent.
On Wednesday (26 November) at the same time, Dhaka’s temperature stood at 19°C with 88 percent humidity. The previous day, Tuesday morning, the temperature was 19.8°C and humidity 84 percent.
According to the Meteorological Office, daytime temperatures in Dhaka and surrounding areas may remain unchanged today. In the forecast issued for the next six hours from 7am on Thursday (27 November), it was stated that the sky over Dhaka may remain clear. Winds may blow from the north/north-west at a speed of 5 to 10 kilometres per hour.
In the latest 120-hour forecast for the entire country, it has been stated that today the weather may remain dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies. Night and daytime temperatures across the country may rise slightly.
Meanwhile, district towns are being blanketed by fog every morning. Dewdrops are forming on blades of grass. As evening falls, the cold becomes more pronounced. Demand for winter clothing has therefore increased, and cold-related illnesses are rising among children and the elderly.
Winter festivities centred around traditional pitha have begun. From afternoon onwards, vendors set up stalls in markets with a variety of hot pithas. Food lovers are flocking to these roadside stalls to enjoy the warmth and aroma of freshly cooked pitha.
