China Denounces Strikes on Iran in Israel Call

In a significant diplomatic intervention following the joint military offensive by Israel and the United States against Iran, Beijing has formally clarified its stance. On Tuesday, 3 March, the fourth day of the escalated conflict, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi engaged in a high-stakes telephone conversation with his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa’ar, to express China’s staunch opposition to the ongoing military campaign.

A Call for Immediate De-escalation

According to reports from China’s state news agency, Xinhua, Wang Yi conveyed a message of deep concern regarding the strikes that led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. While Beijing has long maintained a strategic partnership with Tehran, this latest dialogue marks a direct confrontation of Israeli policy. Wang emphasized that “military force can never provide a genuine solution to complex problems,” warning that such aggression typically yields “new grievances and catastrophic side effects.”
