On Friday, China voiced grave concern regarding Israel’s intentions to take control of Gaza City, calling upon the Israeli authorities to “immediately cease its dangerous actions.”
In a strongly-worded statement delivered to Agence France-Presse (AFP), a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the country’s position on the matter:
“Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory.”
China has consistently supported the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with pre-1967 borders.
