An altercation between two villages, Nanshri and Siddharchor in the Chormohalla Union of Sunamganj’s Sakhati Upazila, has escalated into a violent clash due to longstanding tensions.
The incident occurred at 7:30 AM on Wednesday (19 November). At least 15 people from both sides were injured in the clash.
According to local sources, the conflict began when Chandali, the son of late Chomok Ali from Nanshri, was insulted by Abdul Hock and Mostai, the sons of late Keramat Ali from Siddharchor. The argument quickly spread to both village factions and escalated into a full-scale fight.
In the clash, 8 people from Chandali’s side and 7 from Abdul Hock’s side were injured. Most of the injured have received treatment locally.
Officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Shatkhati Police Station, Md. Shafiqur Islam Khan, confirmed the incident, stating, “We have received information and initiated an investigation. Legal action will be taken if formal complaints are lodged.” The police further stated that although there was tension in the area immediately after the incident, the situation is now under control.
