Cocktail explosions in Mirpur and Mouchak, rickshaw-puller injured

Separate incidents of cocktail explosions occurred in the Mirpur-1 area and Mouchak in the capital. According to Dhaka Metropolitan Traffic Police, one rickshaw-puller was injured in these incidents. The events took place on Monday (17 November) in the evening.

According to police information, at around 6 pm, several miscreants threw cocktails from the top of the flyover at the Mouchak crossing. One rickshaw-puller was injured in the explosion and sustained injuries to his leg. After the explosion, the miscreants quickly fled.

Earlier, at around 5:30 pm, an unidentified person threw two cocktails from the foot-over bridge in front of the Mukta Bangla Shopping Complex in Mirpur-1. However, no casualties occurred there.

Meanwhile, the verdict in the case concerning crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and two others was delivered today, Monday. Surrounding the verdict, the Awami League observed a ‘complete shutdown’ programme yesterday, Sunday, and today, Monday. During the programme, isolated incidents of arson and cocktail explosions occurred in various parts of the capital and elsewhere.
