Netrokona: A tragic accident occurred in Netrokona on Sunday morning when a college student fell from a moving train and collided with an electric pole, resulting in his death. The incident took place near Rajurbazar in Netrokona municipality along the Mohanganj-Mymensingh railway line.
The deceased, Yasin Ahmed, 18, hailed from Dhanpur village in Barhatta Upazila. He was a student of the humanities stream in the 12th grade at Netrokona Abu Abbas Degree College.
According to local residents, railway police, and Yasin’s family, he left home around 7:45 am to attend college. He boarded the Dhaka-bound Intercity Haor Express at Mohanganj railway station, intending to reach Netrokona. Due to overcrowding in the train coach, he stood near the door. Around 9:00 am, as the train approached Rajurbazar area, he lost his balance amid the crowd and fell from the door. Unfortunately, he struck an electric pole adjacent to the railway line, sustaining critical injuries. Local bystanders promptly rescued him and rushed him to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Nasir Uddin, Assistant Station Master of Netrokona Main Station, stated: “The student fell from the moving train at the Rajurbazar railway crossing and collided with an electric pole. It is extremely unfortunate, and such accidents could be avoided with proper caution.”
Inspector Md. Akhtar Hossain of Mymensingh Railway Police confirmed that Yasin Ahmed’s body has been sent to the morgue of Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Appropriate measures are being taken regarding the incident.
