Constituency Where Khaleda Zia May Contest Election

Local leaders have indicated that former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia may contest the upcoming national parliamentary election from the Feni-1 constituency, which includes Parshuram, Fulgazi, and Chhagalnaiya.

On Thursday night, the Fulgazi Upazila BNP announced full committees for its six unions. Each union now has a 10-member advisory council and a 71-member executive committee.

In the full committee of Fulgazi Sadar Union, Khaleda Zia’s name has been included as the first member of the advisory council.

Fulgazi Upazila BNP convener Fakhrul Alam Swapan stated: “With the announcement of the full committee, the grassroots activities of BNP will become more organised and dynamic. As the national parliamentary election approaches, leaders and activists will remain united in the field. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will contest from this constituency.”

Abul Hossain, Member Secretary of Fulgazi Upazila BNP, added that the formation of the full committee aims to strengthen and energise BNP’s grassroots operations.

Historical Significance of the Constituency

• Fulgazi is Khaleda Zia’s ancestral home.
• She has been elected multiple times to parliament from this seat.
