Control Room Monitors Election Activities

Chittagong District Police have established an integrated Operations Command and Control Room to monitor and manage election-related activities and maintain law and order across the district. The facility is designed to provide continuous oversight and rapid response during the electoral process, ensuring a safe, transparent, and well-coordinated election environment.

On Monday, 9 February, the Command and Control Room, located at the Chittagong Superintendent of Police (SP) office, was formally inspected by Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Ziauddin and DIG of Chittagong Range, Mr Md Ahsan Habib Palash, recently promoted to Additional Inspector General of Police.

During the visit, the officials reviewed the state-of-the-art infrastructure, including body-worn camera workstations, live location monitoring systems, and digital operational maps. The Divisional Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the district police’s preparedness, professionalism, and capacity to maintain law and order using modern technology.

Police officials confirmed that 119 mobile teams and 30 striking parties engaged in election duties are being centrally monitored through this control room. In addition, senior officers and all station chiefs (OCs) from 17 police stations across Chittagong can track the operations of each mobile team and striking party in real time.

A total of 469 body-worn cameras used by field personnel are connected online, enabling continuous monitoring from the control room. This ensures that immediate instructions can be issued when required, enhancing operational efficiency and accountability.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Md Rasel, the police spokesperson, highlighted the establishment of walkie-talkie sub-stations to maintain uninterrupted communication with all officers and forces on duty. He noted that the live locations of mobile and striking teams are constantly monitored, allowing rapid deployment to any critical location. Additionally, social media and electronic media monitoring systems have been implemented to detect and respond to any emerging incidents.

To determine the fastest and most effective routes for deployment, Google Maps is being used by mobile and striking teams. The control room has also compiled communication details for quick coordination with the police, armed forces, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Coast Guard, Ansar, judicial and executive magistrates, and presiding officers, ensuring a swift joint response in emergencies.

Through these advanced technological measures, the Operations Command and Control Room facilitates effective supervision and management of the election process. Chittagong District Police remain committed to conducting a free, fair, and peaceful election, upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and dedication.

Key officials present during the inspection included Chittagong District Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Minya and Senior District Election Officer Mohammad Bashir Ahmed.
