A Dhaka court has issued a temporary injunction preventing GM Quader, Chairman of the Jatiya Party (JaPa), from engaging in any party-related organisational activities. The decision follows a legal petition filed by ten former senior leaders of the party, including recently removed Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu.
The order was passed by Judge Md Nurul Islam, of the First Joint District and Sessions Court of Dhaka, following the plaintiffs’ request for a restriction on Quader’s role as party chairman.

Reinstatement of Expelled Leaders

Reaction from Party Leadership
ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Co-Chairman of the Jatiya Party, welcomed the court’s decision, calling it a “historic verdict” and a strong rebuke of autocratic practices within political parties.
“This ruling proves that law and justice are still alive. The truth cannot be suppressed, nor can the party’s constitution be trampled underfoot,” he said.
He further emphasised that the Jatiya Party is not the private property of any individual but a political platform that embodies the hopes and aspirations of millions across the country.
“Today’s court ruling has brought this platform back to the path of democracy. We are grateful to Almighty Allah and extend heartfelt thanks and congratulations to our party leaders, workers, and the people of Bangladesh. Let truth prevail, and arrogance be defeated.”
