The registered online news portal owners’ organisation, ‘Online News Portal Association Bangladesh (ONAB)’, paid a courtesy call today on the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Yaser Khan Chowdhury, at his office at the Secretariat. Online media issues were discussed during the meeting held at the Secretariat.
At this time, ONAB leaders said, “At the nation’s critical moments, we are performing the দায়িত্ব of informing the nation by delivering important news first.” They sought the government’s cooperation in resolving several issues, including the registration renewal fee.
To resolve these issues, they presented several demands. Among these demands are abolishing the annual registration system, cancelling non-registered portals, allocating government advertisements for registered online portals, etc.
At this time, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury assured the implementation of reasonable demands in the interest of sustaining online news portals.
ONAB Convener Mostafa Kamal Majumder, Member Secretary Shaheen Chowdhury, Joint Convener Latiful Bari Hamim, Executive Members Ashraful Kabir Asif, Mohsin Hossain, and Ayon Ahmed were present at the time.
