CR Abrar, a former professor at Dhaka University, was sworn in today (March 5) as an adviser to the interim government, expanding the advisory council to 23 members.
President Mohammed Shahbuddin administered the oath at Bangabhaban around 11:00 AM.
According to Shafiqul Alam, the chief adviser’s press secretary, Abrar is expected to take charge of the education ministry, succeeding Wahiduddin Mahmud. Alam shared this information during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, widely known as CR Abrar, is a respected academic, rights activist, and migration policy expert. He previously served as president of Odhikar, a human rights organization, and as executive director of the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU). His research focuses on labour migration, social protection, and the rights of Rohingya refugees.
