Cracks Appear on Panchabati-Muktarpur Flyover Pillars, Earthquake Suspected

Cracks have been observed on several pillar blocks of the Panchabati-Muktarpur flyover in Fatulla, Narayanganj. It is initially suspected that the cracks were caused by the earthquake that occurred on Friday (21 November). On Saturday (22 November) morning, an on-site inspection identified cracks on pillars 74, 75, and 77 of the flyover.

Locals reported that they have been noticing the cracks since the earthquake. After news spread in the morning, residents gathered under the flyover to examine the damage. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the cracks were directly caused by the earthquake.

The area is an industrial zone through which thousands of people commute daily beneath the flyover. The appearance of cracks in the pillars has raised safety concerns among the public.

Narayanganj District Commissioner, Md. Raihan Kabir, said he has informed the relevant authorities about the cracks. Necessary instructions have already been issued to verify the situation. He also urged immediate measures to prevent any accidents and ensure public safety.
