Daytime Temperatures to Rise Slightly

The national meteorological authority has forecast a modest rise in daytime temperatures and a slight drop in night-time readings across the country over the next twenty-four hours. The latest outlook, issued on Tuesday morning, also indicates the likelihood of light rain accompanied by thunder in several regions, including the capital and three other administrative divisions.

According to the forecast, daytime temperatures are expected to increase marginally nationwide, while night-time temperatures may fall slightly. This pattern suggests a widening gap between day and night temperatures, a common feature during seasonal transitions when dry conditions dominate but isolated weather systems influence specific areas.

Light rainfall, potentially accompanied by thunder, is expected at one or two locations within the divisions of Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Elsewhere, the weather is likely to remain predominantly dry with partly cloudy skies. Such conditions are typical when localised atmospheric instability develops in limited pockets rather than across the entire country.

Meteorologists attribute the present conditions to an extended trough of low pressure positioned over West Bengal and adjoining areas. In addition, the seasonal low remains over the South Bay of Bengal, with its extension reaching towards the north-eastern part of the Bay. These interacting systems are contributing to cloud formation and isolated convective activity, particularly in the eastern and central regions.

Temperature readings recorded at 6:00 a.m. today illustrate the variation across districts. The lowest minimum temperature was registered in Rajshahi at 14.5 degrees Celsius, reflecting relatively cooler early-morning conditions in the north-western region. In contrast, the highest maximum temperature was recorded in Patuakhali at 33.4 degrees Celsius, highlighting significantly warmer conditions in the southern coastal belt.

The key temperature observations are summarised below:

Location Temperature Type Recorded Value (°C)
Rajshahi Minimum 14.5
Patuakhali Maximum 33.4

The gradual rise in daytime temperatures may bring mild discomfort during peak afternoon hours, particularly in urban centres where heat retention is more pronounced. However, the slight fall in night-time temperatures is expected to provide some relief, especially in northern districts.

Weather experts note that such fluctuations are not unusual during this period of the year. Transitional atmospheric conditions often produce brief spells of rain and thunderstorms in selected divisions, while much of the country remains dry. Farmers and outdoor workers are advised to remain attentive to localised forecasts, particularly in areas where thunderstorms may occur.

Looking ahead, meteorologists will continue to monitor the evolution of the low-pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal and adjacent regions. Any significant shift in their intensity or position could influence rainfall patterns and temperature trends in the coming days.

Overall, the short-term outlook suggests stable but slightly warmer daytime conditions, cooler nights, and isolated showers in limited areas rather than widespread rainfall.
