Def Leppard Unveils Spectacular Vegas Residency

Def Leppard is poised to ignite the Las Vegas stage with a residency that promises to be as ambitious as it is electrifying. With their 13th studio album in the works and a new single already primed for release, the rock legends are taking their showmanship “up many levels,” according to frontman Joe Elliott.

Bassist Rick Savage, 65, tells PEOPLE exclusively, “We’ve really got enough material, and we’ll have enough to carry us through to the end of the decade. We’re just a few songs short of two albums.” The band is still in the process of writing and recording, aiming to release the album either late this year or in early 2027. “It’s like we always say: the last 20 per cent takes 80 per cent of the time to get right. That’s where we are now,” Savage adds.

For now, the spotlight is firmly on Las Vegas, where Def Leppard will kick off their third residency on Tuesday, 3 February. The 12-show run at Caesars Palace is expected to surpass anything fans have seen in previous tours or residencies. “We’ve scrapped everything from the last five or six tours and devised a completely new stage show,” Elliott, 66, explains. “Alongside the hits, we’re performing deep cuts that haven’t been heard live since the ’90s. Our new single, Rejoice, will also feature.”

Having previewed the show from the audience, Elliott describes it as “pretty spectacular.” The residency comes during a year of milestones: 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Slang, the 20th anniversary of Yeah!, and in 2027, the band will celebrate their 50th formation anniversary alongside the 40th anniversary of their career-defining Hysteria album.

Savage reflects on their longevity and ambition: “There was no half-heartedness about it. We aimed to be the biggest band in the world from day one.” Elliott concurs, adding that the scale and production of the Vegas residency represent “where we’ve always wanted to be.”

Unlike the constant travel of touring, Vegas offers a rare sense of home. “The biggest difference is unpacking your suitcase,” Elliott jokes. “I’ve never hung clothes in a wardrobe on tour in 46 years. Here, it’s just a different world.”
