Dense fog has disrupted flight operations in Saidpur of Nilphamari, causing aircraft to arrive and depart later than scheduled on Sunday morning. Many passengers heading to Dhaka for urgent purposes were forced to wait at the airport.
Lokman Hakim, the acting officer of the airport’s weather office, said the winter season has begun, resulting in lower temperatures and increased fog, which is delaying flights.
Passenger Momota Begum said she was supposed to reach Dhaka by late morning, but her 9:30 am Novoair flight was delayed. Similarly, a US–Bangla flight landed half an hour late at 9:24 am. Airport sources said most flights are operating with about a half-hour delay.
Saidpur Airport Manager A K M Bahauddin Zakaria said no flights had been cancelled, and operations would return to normal once visibility improves.
