Dhaka Metro Rail Announces Ramadan Timetable

In anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has announced a revised train timetable to better align with office hours and the daily routines of passengers. The schedule, published on Monday, outlines adjusted departure times and service intervals to accommodate increased commuter needs during the fasting month.

According to the official notice, the first train from Uttara North station towards Motijheel will depart at 6:30 am, with the last train scheduled for 9:30 pm. In the reverse direction, from Motijheel to Uttara North, services will commence at 7:15 am and conclude at 10:10 pm.

During peak morning and evening hours, the headway — the time interval between consecutive trains — will be maintained between 5.3 and 8 minutes. Outside of peak periods, the interval may extend up to 15 to 20 minutes, ensuring an efficient flow of passengers while accommodating lower demand periods.

To facilitate commuters observing Ramadan, passengers will be permitted to carry drinking water within station premises and on board the trains. Items intended for iftar may also be brought on board, provided that established safety regulations are followed. The DMTCL has urged all passengers to maintain cleanliness at stations and on trains, emphasising the importance of hygiene during the festive period.

The announcement also confirmed that the revised timetable will remain in effect on Saturdays and all other government-declared holidays throughout the month.

DMTCL officials emphasised that the adjusted schedule aims to provide a convenient and comfortable commuting experience for all passengers during Ramadan, while ensuring safety and operational efficiency across the metro rail network.
