In a concerted effort to maintain law and order, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Jatrabari Division conducted a daylong special operation on Monday (16 March), resulting in the arrest of sixteen individuals involved in various criminal activities across the area. The police confirmed the arrests on Tuesday (17 March).
According to the Jatrabari Police Station, the operation targeted multiple neighbourhoods identified as hotspots for criminal activity. Police officials reported that those apprehended are suspected of involvement in offences ranging from theft and assault to other local disturbances. Following their arrest, all sixteen individuals were handed over to the courts for further legal proceedings.
Police sources emphasised that such special operations are part of a sustained strategy to ensure public safety and normalcy in the area. Authorities have pledged to continue these measures to deter criminal activities and reassure residents.

Local residents expressed relief over the swift police action, noting that the presence of law enforcement has restored a sense of security in the area. Officers reiterated that similar operations would continue, particularly in neighbourhoods known for criminal disturbances, to maintain public confidence and uphold the rule of law.
The Jatrabari Police Station continues to encourage residents to report suspicious activities promptly and cooperate with authorities to ensure community safety.
