‘Dhurandhar 2’ Sets Record-Breaking Opening Day Earnings

Bollywood witnessed a historic moment as the spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar 2’, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranbir Singh, stormed the box office on its opening day. The film, which had already generated massive buzz during its preview screenings, smashed multiple records and established itself as the highest-grossing Hindi film on a single day.

The movie began its financial ascent during paid previews on 19 March, earning approximately ₹43 crore domestically. Simultaneously, international earnings reached around ₹75 crore, pushing the film past the ₹100 crore milestone even before its official release.

On its official release day, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ continued its phenomenal performance. The domestic box office alone contributed ₹102 crore, surpassing all previous records for single-day earnings in Hindi cinema. By the end of the day, the total domestic collection had soared to nearly ₹145 crore.

Internationally, the film also performed impressively, generating around $7 million on the first day, with cumulative overseas earnings already exceeding $9 million. The combined global figures reflect the film’s massive appeal and strong anticipation among audiences worldwide.

This remarkable success has broken several previous opening-day records. The former record for highest single-day earnings in Hindi cinema was held by ‘Jawan’ with ₹129 crore, followed by ‘Pathaan’ (₹104 crore) and ‘Animal’ (₹101 crore). ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has now surpassed all these benchmarks.

Moreover, the film has made waves beyond Bollywood, setting a new precedent at the Pan-India level. Its opening day collection has exceeded the figures achieved by major blockbusters such as ‘RRR’, ‘Baahubali 2’, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, and ‘KGF Chapter 2’.

The film features an ensemble cast including R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, alongside Ranbir Singh, adding further star power to its commercial appeal.
