The government has decided to restructure the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) into two distinct directorates, aiming to ensure more efficient management and administrative clarity in Bangladesh’s education sector. The newly formed entities will be named the Directorate of Secondary Education and the Directorate of College Education.
According to the Ministry of Education, the Chief Adviser has given his formal consent to the decision. The announcement came through an official circular signed by Sifat Uddin, Senior Assistant Secretary of the ministry, on Sunday, 12 October.

The circular stated that the secondary education sector will be separated from the existing DSHE to form the two new entities.
To facilitate the restructuring process, a six-member committee has been formed. The committee has been tasked with preparing separate organograms and duty lists for both directorates within 30 days, to be submitted to the Ministry of Education.
