DMP Arrests 28 Within 24-Hours In Operation Devil Hunt

In a decisive effort to maintain law and order across Dhaka, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a comprehensive security operation, codenamed “Operation Devil Hunt – Phase 2”, resulting in the arrest of 28 individuals within 24 hours. The operation targeted high-crime areas across the capital, aiming to curtail criminal activity and ensure a safer environment for citizens.

According to official sources, the Mugda Police Station spearheaded the initiative on Thursday afternoon, apprehending nine suspects aged between 18 and 32. Those detained included Md. Salman Ahmed (19), Rifat Alam Munna (18), Md. Iman (25), Md. Mamun (20), Md. Mannan (23), Md. Sujon (32), Naimur Rahman Apon (28), Md. Aslam (26), and Md. Sagar (20).

Simultaneously, the Banani Police Station carried out targeted raids across multiple neighbourhoods, arresting seven suspects aged 19 to 50. The arrested individuals included Md. Sharif Mia (28), Md. Khorshed Alam (50), Md. Munsur Ali (35), Mohammad Ali (19), Shahinur Hossain (25), Md. Shobuj Mia (23), and Md. Rakib (20).

Meanwhile, Rupnagar Police Station conducted intensive patrolling and raids, detaining 12 suspects, including female suspects, aged between 20 and 35. The detainees included Mauli Akhtar Mallika (35), Md. Shrabon (20), Md. Raju (35), Mobarak Hossain (22), Md. Abdul Kayum (24), Md. Ashadul Islam (23), Md. Abir Hasan (28), Md. Mahibul Islam (26), Md. Ishrak Hossain Ifti (25), Md. Taibur Rahman (25), Md. Shobuj Mia (23), and Md. Mustakim Salehin Ekram Ontu (24).

The DMP has confirmed that Operation Devil Hunt will continue, combining regular patrols with targeted raids to identify and apprehend individuals involved in theft, robbery, drug-related offences, and extremist activities. Authorities expressed confidence that such initiatives would enhance public trust, reinforce security, and gradually reduce crime rates throughout Dhaka.
