Drug Trafficker Arrested with Nearly Tk19 Million

Police in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, have arrested a drug trafficker in possession of 18.65 million Bangladeshi Taka, along with a significant quantity of narcotics, in a major crackdown on local drug operations.

The information was revealed during a press briefing on Wednesday (25 March) by Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Mohammad Abdul Barik. The primary suspect, Saidur Islam, was apprehended late on Tuesday (24 March) at approximately 3:00 a.m. from a passenger bus heading towards Cox’s Bazar, near the Shimrail intersection.

Saidur Islam, a resident of Ramu’s Dakbanga South Kachchapia area in Cox’s Bazar, is the son of Musa Ali. Police reports indicate that he had been bringing narcotics into Siddhirganj for wholesale distribution before returning to Cox’s Bazar. Authorities confirmed his movements and arrested him during a coordinated operation.

In addition to the arrest of Saidur Islam, police conducted simultaneous raids in various parts of Siddhirganj, resulting in the capture of ten other local drug dealers. All individuals have been charged under the Narcotics Control Act and forwarded to the courts.
