Authorities in Hili, within the Hakimpur Upazila of Dinajpur, recovered the body of a man believed to be a drug user on Wednesday morning, 18 March. The deceased was found in front of a warehouse owned by A. Mannan, located along Hili CP Bazar Road.
Local residents discovered the individual lying unconscious on the street early in the morning and immediately alerted the police. Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel confirmed that the man had already passed away and subsequently transported the body to the Hakimpur Police Station for further investigation.
Preliminary inquiries conducted by officers at the scene identified the deceased as Hoki, aged 42, a resident of Satmatha in Bogura District. Authorities are currently coordinating with Bogura police to verify his identity and gather additional information regarding his background and circumstances leading to his death.
Sub-Inspector Md. Suja Mia of Hakimpur Police Station stated, “The body has been brought to the station. After confirming the identity, it will be handed over to the next of kin following the completion of legal formalities.”
While the cause of death has yet to be officially determined, investigations are ongoing, and police have begun collecting statements from nearby shopkeepers and passersby. No immediate signs of foul play were reported at the scene, though forensic examination is expected to provide further clarity.
