Dhaka, 27 January 2026 — In a decisive pre-dawn operation, the Bangladesh Army conducted a special raid near the Sayedabad Bus Terminal and adjacent railway lines, seizing a significant cache of illegal drugs, firearms, ammunition, and cash. Six individuals, including members of the notorious drug trafficker and terrorist “Auto Sajol”’s family, were taken into custody.
The operation, carried out on Monday, 26 January, was based on actionable intelligence and executed by a highly trained unit under the 46th Independent Infantry Brigade. Acting swiftly, the team conducted coordinated searches across multiple locations associated with Auto Sajol and his associates, namely Raju, Faruq, Zahid, Sajib, and Joni.
While Auto Sajol managed to evade capture during the raid, authorities confirmed that efforts to apprehend him are ongoing. The six arrested individuals are:

The military team recovered a large quantity of contraband from various locations, including the roof of Auto Sajol’s residence. Items seized during the operation included automatic firearms, rounds of ammunition, thousands of narcotic tablets, heroin, domestic knives, cash, improvised explosive devices, mobile phones, and alcoholic beverages.

Officials from the Army emphasised that the entire operation was conducted with utmost professionalism and caution, ensuring that no untoward incidents occurred. The arrested individuals, along with the confiscated materials, were handed over to Wari Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Superintendent of Investigations at Wari Police Station, Md. Rezaul Karim, confirmed that the suspects received preliminary medical attention at Dhaka Medical before being formally lodged in police custody. He also stated that the Army’s cooperation was pivotal in the successful execution of the raid and the seizure of such a large volume of contraband.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continuing the crackdown on organised crime and drug trafficking in the capital, stressing that operations of this scale send a strong message to criminal networks operating in Dhaka.
