Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim, the candidate for General Secretary (GS) nominated by Chhatra Dal in the upcoming Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) election, has alleged that his social media account has been disabled. He made this claim during an interaction with journalists on Monday, 8 September.
Hamim stated, “My account has been disabled, and this is a form of cyber attack against me.”
The Public Relations Department of Dhaka University has issued a statement affirming that no leniency will be shown regarding cyber offences during the DUCSU and Hall Union elections. The statement notes that the 2025 elections are scheduled for 9 September, and that during the campaign period, candidates have been subjected to cyber harassment and personal defamation over past activities.
The statement highlights that female candidates have faced particular cyber harassment, which is against human rights principles.

The returning officers have explicitly stated that under no circumstances will any cyber harassment or disinformation related to DUCSU and Hall Union elections be tolerated.
