DUCSU Leader Furious After Being Compared to Pori Moni

DUCSU Executive Member Umma Uswatun Rafia became furious after being compared to actress Pori Moni. On the day the verdict was delivered in the case concerning the crimes against humanity during the July coup attempt, which involves former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three other accused, two bulldozers were brought to Dhaka’s 32 Number Road in Dhanmondi once again.

Rafia was present at the location. The police used sound grenades to disperse the protesters.

A chase ensued, and at one point, Rafia got into a heated argument with the police. During this, someone nearby remarked, “Came here to go viral like Pori Moni?”

Upon hearing this, Rafia became furious and repeatedly asked, “Who said that? Who said it?” She then moved towards the police and said, “Why do you think I’ve come here to go viral like Pori Moni?”

Later, Rafia posted on her Facebook, stating that she has no intention of joining any political party in the future.

Rafia wrote, “Listen, I’ll say this clearly, the possibility of me getting involved in politics in the future is very low. I’m disappointed with both Jamaat and BNP. I had hopes for NCPI, but those hopes are slowly fading.”

“I won’t join any party under the ‘lesser evil’ banner,” she added.

This DUCSU member further stated, “As long as the innocent are being beaten, as long as the spirit of tyranny rides our state apparatus like the ghost of Sindabad, I will stand against the oppressors. I have no party, no political interests. My only goal is to stand against injustice.”
