Earthquake in Narsingdi Shakes Dhaka Also India

At 10:38 in the morning, an earthquake measuring 5.5 struck near Narsingdi in Bangladesh. On Friday (21 November), the tremor was felt across various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, and mild shaking was also reported in Kolkata, India.

NDTV reported that residents of Kolkata and surrounding areas felt the mild tremor and observed fans and items hanging on walls sway slightly during the earthquake.

According to a press release from the Meteorological Department, the earthquake was felt precisely at 10:38:26. Its epicentre was in Madhabdi, Narsingdi, and it measured 5.7 on the Richter scale, categorised as a medium-intensity earthquake.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) stated that the earthquake measured 5.5 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre in Narsingdi. The tremor lasted for a few seconds, causing many residents across Dhaka to leave their homes in panic.

Meanwhile, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake also struck Pakistan on Friday (21 November) morning. NDTV reported that the epicentre was 135 kilometres beneath the surface. No immediate reports of damage were received.
