EC Committed to Ensuring Free and Fair Elections: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin stated that conducting a free and fair election is a pledge from all parties to the nation, and the Election Commission is committed to delivering a fair election to the people of the country.

He made these remarks today (Wednesday) during a dialogue with political parties at the Election Commission office. At the same time, he urged all political parties to cooperate during the election period and strictly adhere to the electoral code of conduct.

CEC Nasir Uddin emphasised that following the electoral code of conduct is extremely important. The commission expects all political parties to honour their commitment to adhering to the code. He noted that upholding the rule of law is essential for free and peaceful voting, which is directly linked to observing the code of conduct.

He described the role of political parties as more significant than that of law enforcement agencies in ensuring a successful election. He said that if political parties act sincerely, the Election Commission does not face additional pressure.

The CEC sought the cooperation of political parties to increase voter turnout at polling stations and expressed hope that parties will encourage voters to attend polling stations through their own workers.
