Eid Film Budgets: Who Leads This Year?

As Eid approaches, the spotlight in Dhallywood has turned firmly towards the festive cinematic releases. This year, multiple star-studded films are debuting simultaneously, sparking intense curiosity among audiences about which movie to watch. Alongside trailers and promotional campaigns, discussions have increasingly focused on production budgets—specifically, which film commands the highest investment and which stars are taking the lead in terms of resources.

Bunolota Express

Director Tanim Noor, who made waves last Eid with Utsab, returns this year with Bunolota Express. The film will release exclusively in multiplexes, following the strategy of his previous work. Early buzz has already hinted at a significant budget. Speaking on the matter, Tanim Noor stated, “We have secured the budget necessary to realise our vision. There is no restriction on disclosing this information. The production cost is approximately four crore taka.” The film boasts a high-profile ensemble including Mosharraf Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Shariful Raj, Azmeri Haque Badhon, and Sabila Noor.

Dom

Afran Nisho makes his third big-screen appearance in Dom, alongside lead actress Puja Cherry. Notably, part of the filming took place in Kazakhstan, contributing to its lavish scale, visible in both trailers and teasers. Producer Shahriar Shakil refrained from disclosing exact numbers, citing the absence of a formal box office system in Bangladesh. “Dom is a large-budget film, surpassing even Tufan in scale,” he remarked.

Rakshosh

Following Borobod, director Mehedi Hasan presents Rakshosh, featuring Siam Ahmed. Producer Shahrin Akter emphasised that completing the film with quality took precedence over star power alone, resulting in another high-budget production. Although precise figures are withheld, sources indicate the budget is notably lower than the over ten crore taka spent on Borobod.

Pressure Cooker

Director Raihan Rafi, known for his high-budget works Tandob and Tufan, introduces Pressure Cooker this Eid. He describes it as “limited in budget” relative to his previous films but insists that every expense was aligned with the story’s needs, avoiding unnecessary expenditure. Industry sources estimate the budget at around 2.5 to 3 crore taka.

Prince

As always, Shakib Khan’s Eid release generates widespread attention. Prince, whose teaser has sparked significant discussion, is believed to be among the highest-budget projects of his career. Director Abu Hayat Mahmud confirmed that production followed standard budgeting practices for a Shakib Khan film, ensuring no compromises were made. Insiders report the budget and production costs range between 9 and 12 crore taka.

Estimated Eid Film Budgets

Film Lead Star(s) Approximate Budget (Crore Taka)
Bunolota Express Mosharraf Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Shariful Raj, Azmeri Haque Badhon, Sabila Noor 4
Dom Afran Nisho, Puja Cherry Not disclosed (large-budget)
Rakshosh Siam Ahmed, Susmita Below 10
Pressure Cooker Ensemble Cast 2.5–3
Prince Shakib Khan 9–12

With multiple high-profile films competing, this Eid’s box office promises to be both exciting and competitive. Audiences are eagerly awaiting to see which production values, performances, and cinematic spectacle will emerge victorious in the festival season.
