The engine of a shuttle train bound for Poradah derailed in Goalanda, Rajbari. However, no casualties were reported in the incident. Train movement has been temporarily suspended as a result.
The derailment occurred around 7:15 a.m. on Monday (November 3) near the Daulatdia railway station, confirmed A. Razzak, the Officer-in-Charge of Goalanda Railway Police Station.
According to local sources, the shuttle train left Rajbari early in the morning for Goalanda Ghat. Upon arrival at Daulatdia station, one of the engine’s wheels slipped off the track while turning. Later, another engine from Rajbari arrived and took away the train’s carriages.
Goalanda Ghat Station Master Moslem Uddin told the media that due to the derailment, the train could not depart for Poradah on time. He added that once a relief train arrives from Rajbari, the recovery of the derailed engine will begin.
