Senior journalist and columnist M. A. Aziz has questioned whether egg-throwing has ceased simply because political leaders were hired in the United States.
He raised this concern during an interview with a media outlet regarding the harassment of the Chief Adviser’s entourage in New York.
M. A. Aziz stated: “After turning expatriates into voters, will they stop throwing eggs, or will they resort to even more humiliating acts? Whenever our head of government visits a foreign country, such mistreatment occurs. Does this enhance our national image?”
He further questioned the process, saying: “Dr. Yunus is reportedly turning these expatriates into voters. How many of them hold dual citizenship? This needs to be verified.”
Aziz emphasised: “In major democratic countries, no head of government faces such disrespect. Even in London, similar actions are being taken against one of the advisers. At this level, we have yet to reach the point where expatriates are being registered as voters effectively.”
The comments come amid growing concern over the treatment of political delegations abroad, particularly in relation to expatriate voter registration and dual citizenship issues. Aziz’s critique underscores the impact of such incidents on national dignity and democratic perception.
