This urgent notification was recently communicated by the BTRC, emphasising the need for compliance within the stipulated timeframe.

Check Your Registered SIMs:
Customers can verify how many SIM cards are registered against their National ID by dialling *16001# and sending the last four digits of their NID.
De-Register Excess SIMs:
Individuals holding more than ten SIM cards must contact the customer care of their respective mobile operators to either de-register the surplus SIMs or transfer ownership to another user.
Automatic Cancellation:
Should a customer fail to complete the de-registration process within the deadline, the BTRC will automatically cancel excess SIMs using a random selection method.
The BTRC has issued a strict warning emphasising that non-compliance will result in the automatic cancellation of excess SIM cards without any further notice. This measure aims to regulate the number of SIMs per individual and prevent misuse or fraudulent activities in the telecommunications sector.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensures every subscriber holds a manageable number of SIM cards.
Prevent Misuse: Reduces the risk of fraudulent activities, multiple accounts, and illegal SIM usage.
Customer Empowerment: Provides clear guidance and tools for users to manage their registered SIMs.
By enforcing this policy, BTRC aims to maintain order in the mobile telecommunications sector and ensure greater accountability among subscribers and mobile operators.
