Under the terms of the contract, Neymar will remain with Santos throughout the tenure of club president Marcelo Teixeira. The club had been optimistic about retaining Neymar after the conclusion of the Brazilian league, despite his previous contract expiring on 31 December 2025. Club directors had anticipated that the discussions might extend until the last moment — and indeed, they did.

Remarkably, Santos is paying Neymar a monthly salary equivalent to that of four to five average players in Europe, despite him being a Champions League-winning star at Barcelona. In addition to his playing contract, Neymar’s image rights are secured through a separate agreement with his family-owned company, NR Sports, amounting to BRL 85 million, payable by the end of the coming year.
