A team of experts from England, Australia, China, and Turkey will investigate the massive fire at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s cargo village.
This was announced by Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam on Saturday (25 October) after inspecting the affected cargo village and e-gate.
The advisor said, “I consider the airport fire an accident. The airport’s four units tried to extinguish it quickly. We want experts from these four countries to determine the cause of the fire and who is responsible.”
He added that the fire spread rapidly due to the presence of highly flammable materials, which delayed bringing it under control. The Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddique, and other officials were also present.
The incident occurred on 18 October around 2:30 pm. Thirty-seven fire service units brought the fire under control by 9 pm, and it was fully extinguished by the following afternoon.
