Fake Robbery Staged at Home to Buy Phone, Three Teenagers Arrested

In Rupganj of Narayanganj, a teenager staged a fake robbery at his own house along with two friends to buy a mobile phone and a Free Fire game ID. Police arrested three teenagers in connection with the incident, along with the recovery of cash and gold jewellery.

On Saturday (6 December), they were sent to jail. Police disclosed the sensational details on Friday night after arresting them earlier in the evening.

The arrested teenagers are Shahriar, an eighth-grade student, son of Abdur Rashid; Nabil, a ninth-grade student, son of Hanif Mia; and Shah Alam, a sixth-grade student, son of Ali Hossain.

All three are students of Kanchan Bharat Chandra High School.

According to local sources, on Friday night Shah Alam, a friend of Shahriar, bought a new mobile phone, prompting his family to question him. He then revealed the source of the money. Upon learning this, locals detained and assaulted the three teenagers, who later confessed to their involvement in the robbery. At that time, cash amounting to Tk 2.75 lakh and two bhori of gold jewellery were recovered from them.

The father of one of the arrested teenagers said his son, an eighth-grade student, committed the act after falling into bad company. He added that the teenagers staged the incident to buy mobile phones and play games. After the incident came to light, Tk 2.75 lakh in cash and two bhori of gold were recovered from them.

Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tarikul Islam said that on 24 November, miscreants tied up and assaulted a teenager in broad daylight in Kanchan of Rupganj before breaking open an almirah and looting Tk 10 lakh in cash and 10 bhori of gold jewellery. Following the incident, the teenager’s father filed a robbery case with Rupganj Police Station.

The OC said that during preliminary interrogation, the arrested teenagers confessed to staging the robbery at home to buy new mobile phones and Free Fire game IDs.
