Farmer and Youth Party Leaders Expelled Following Arrest with Yaba Tablets

Two political leaders from Pabna have been expelled from their respective party wings following their arrest with yaba tablets on their way back from Cox’s Bazar. The individuals are Abdul Majid Mondal, Member Secretary of the Sujanagar Upazila Farmers’ Party, and Rashed Rana, a member of the Convening Committee of Pabna District Youth Party. Separate expulsion orders were issued on Monday and Tuesday by the party authorities.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Pabna District Farmers’ Party issued an expulsion order stating that Abdul Majid Mondal’s involvement in “undesirable activities” had been circulated through electronic media and social platforms. Following his arrest by Sirajganj police on 31st August, the party declared that his actions had tarnished its image. Consequently, he has been relieved of his responsibilities, and the district unit has requested the Central Farmers’ Party Parliament to permanently expel him.

On Monday night, a press release signed by Minhazul Islam Bhuiyan, Assistant Office Secretary of the Central Youth Party, announced the expulsion of Rashed Rana. He was dismissed from his primary membership and all party positions on clear allegations of engaging in activities contrary to party principles and ideology. The statement further clarified that the party will not bear responsibility for any misconduct committed by the expelled leaders. Youth Party activists across all levels have been instructed to refrain from maintaining organisational relations with him.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning, 31st August, when a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-12), Sirajganj Camp, apprehended Abdul Majid Mondal and Rashed Rana in front of Food Village Hotel on the Dhaka-Pabna highway in Sirajganj. During the search operation, law enforcement recovered a total of 1,977 yaba tablets from their possession. Subsequently, both were handed over to Salonga Police Station in Sirajganj for further legal proceedings.
