According to local authorities, the minibus was travelling towards Barishal when it collided head-on with a bus coming from Dhaka, en route to Khulna. Emergency services responded promptly, with two units from the Gouranadi Fire Service carrying out rescue operations at the scene.

The accident temporarily disrupted traffic on the Dhaka–Barishal highway, but normal flow has since resumed. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on this busy route, especially during peak travel hours.
