A tragic road traffic accident in the heart of Tangail town has resulted in the untimely deaths of two young men. The incident occurred late on Friday night, 13 February 2026, when a motorcycle lost control and collided with a roadside structure, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding road safety during nocturnal hours.
The victims have been identified as Swadhin and Fahim, both residents of the Choto Kalibari area within the municipality. According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the duo was travelling home from the town centre at approximately 11:00 pm.
As they reached the Bottala locality, the rider reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle veered off the carriageway and struck a boundary wall with significant force. The impact threw both men onto the road, causing catastrophic injuries.
Local residents, alerted by the sound of the crash, rushed to the scene to provide assistance. They managed to transport the critically injured victims to Tangail General Hospital; however, the severity of the trauma proved fatal. Upon arrival, the duty consultants declared both individuals dead.
In-charge of the Tangail General Hospital police box, Alamgir Hossain, confirmed the details of the tragedy. He noted that while the road was relatively quiet at that hour, the loss of control proved decisive.
Preliminary investigations suggest that high speed or poor visibility may have contributed to the inability to navigate the bend at Bottala, though a formal forensic report is pending.
