Father of ‘Ittehadi’ Star Nipu Passes Away

Actor Shawkat Ali Talukdar Nipu, popularly known for his role as the grandson (‘Nati’) in the renowned magazine programme ‘Ittehadi’, is mourning the loss of his father, Dr Golam Mostofa Talukdar.

Dr Talukdar passed away in the capital on Wednesday night, 17 September, shortly before midnight, at the age of 86 (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un).

 

The ‘Ittehadi’ team confirmed the news in a statement. Dr Talukdar had been battling throat cancer for several years. Initially, he received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and later continued long-term care at Ahsania Mission Cancer & General Hospital in Uttara.

Funeral Arrangements

On Thursday morning, 18 September, the first funeral prayer (Janaza) was held at a mosque in Uttara. After the ceremony, the body was transported to Nipu’s ancestral home in Jamalpur, where a second Janaza will be conducted, followed by burial in the family graveyard.

 

Dr Talukdar is survived by his wife, three sons, and one daughter. Nipu is one of the three siblings.

 

Nipu has been performing in ‘Ittehadi’ for many years, under the direction of Hanif Sanket. His character, ‘Nati’, has become widely popular across the country. While not regularly appearing on other television programmes, Nipu has secured a place in viewers’ hearts through ‘Ittehadi’, becoming a familiar and beloved face nationwide.
