Fazlur Rahman, BNP-nominated candidate for Kishoreganj-4, has warned that he will drink poison if collaborators (Jamaat) win elections and form a government in Itna-Mithamain-Astagram.
He stated, “I want to see those who raise their hands for the Liberation War. Not a single hand should be raised for the collaborators. If they still win and form a government, I will take poison.”
Fazlur Rahman made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a BNP-organised workers’ rally in Ward 2 of Itna Sadar Union on Friday evening (21 November).
He further said that those still alive owe their existence to the mercy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Ziaur Rahman, and Khaleda Zia. In 2001, when help was sought from Khaleda Zia, it was granted. Now, they are making malicious comments. According to him, only Jamaat accuses BNP of being ‘extortionists, fraudsters, and thieves’. They are hypocritical, ungrateful, and unfaithful.
Fazlur Rahman added, “I seek votes from those who support the Liberation War, secularism, BNP, Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and the boat symbol. My voters come from all religions—Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian.”
The rally was attended by Umme Kulsum Rekha, former vice-president of Kishoreganj district BNP and Fazlur Rahman’s wife, Itna Upazila BNP president S M Kalam Hossain, general secretary Siddiqur Zaman Thakur Swapan, and other local party leaders.
