Following the swearing-in of Members of Parliament elected to the Thirteenth National Parliament, the formal process of constituting the new government has commenced. On Tuesday morning, the newly elected MPs took their oath of office. Later the same afternoon, members of the new cabinet are scheduled to be sworn in at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Under the leadership of party chairman Tarique Rahman, a 50-member council of ministers is being formed. According to party sources, the cabinet will comprise 25 full ministers, 24 state ministers and one technocrat adviser, reflecting what insiders describe as a deliberate balance between political experience and professional expertise.
Political analysts observe that the cabinet blends senior figures with comparatively younger leaders, alongside technocrats drawn from specialised backgrounds. Emphasis has reportedly been placed on administrative efficiency, macroeconomic management, diplomatic engagement and national security. Party officials argue that such a configuration is designed to ensure swift policy implementation while maintaining political cohesion.
The inclusion of technocrats in both full ministerial and state ministerial ranks signals a technocratic infusion into governance, particularly in sectors requiring technical competence and regulatory reform.
Those taking oath as full ministers include senior political leaders and experienced parliamentarians such as Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud (Tuku), Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain and Khalilur Rahman (technocrat).
Other notable appointees include Abdul Awal Mintoo, Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, Mizanur Rahman Minu, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Khandaker Abdul Muktaadir, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Zahir Uddin Swapan and Mohammad Amin ur Rashid (technocrat).
Female representation among full ministers includes Afroza Khanam (Rita). Additional ministers are Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Asadul Habib Dulu, Md. Asaduzzaman, Zakaria Taher, Dipen Dewan, A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon, Sardar Sakhawat Hossain (Bakul), Fakir Mahbub Anam (Swapan) and Sheikh Robiul Alam.
The list of state ministers features a mix of established and emerging leaders, including M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, Anindya Islam Amit, Md. Shariful Alam, Shama Obaed Islam, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and Kaiser Kamal.
They are joined by Farhad Hossain Azad, Aminul Haque (technocrat), Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Habibur Rashid, Md. Rajib Ahsan, Md. Abdul Bari, Mir Shahe Alam and Zonayed Saki.
Other appointees include Ishraq Hossain, Farzana Sharmin, Sheikh Faridul Islam, Nurul Haque, Yaser Khan Chowdhury, Ek Iqbal Hossain, M.A. Muhit, Ahmed Sohel Manjur, Bobby Hajjaj and Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam.

Observers identify four principal challenges confronting the new administration: restoring macroeconomic stability, containing inflationary pressures, strengthening foreign relations and undertaking administrative reform.
Bangladesh’s recent economic headwinds—ranging from external financing constraints to domestic price volatility—require coordinated fiscal and monetary policy responses. Diplomatic recalibration and renewed engagement with development partners are also expected to feature prominently on the government’s agenda.
Ultimately, the cabinet’s effectiveness will be judged by its capacity to maintain political stability while delivering prompt, evidence-based policy decisions. The coming months are likely to serve as a decisive test of its administrative competence and reformist intent.
