Final List of Polling Centers to Be Published Today

Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Election Commission (EC) will publish the final list of polling centers today, Monday (October 27). At the same time, registration of new political parties will also be completed within this week.

On Sunday (October 26), Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed, shared this information with journalists after a meeting with Commonwealth representatives at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka.

According to the EC’s announced roadmap, the final list of polling centers was supposed to be published by October 20. When asked why it has not been released even after six days, Akhtar Ahmed said, “The list of polling centers has been finalized. Some correction proposals were received and those have been addressed. I will brief the media on Monday morning.”

When asked about the progress of the roadmap implementation, the EC Secretary said, “It is not possible to complete everything 100 percent. Depending on the situation, some adjustments had to be made. Some tasks were completed earlier, some required waiting, and a few still need a bit more time.”

Secretary Akhtar added, “Everything cannot be measured and executed strictly by date or schedule. Certain adjustments are necessary. So far, I don’t think there is any reason for concern or panic.”

Regarding the registration of new political parties, he said, “We have received some additional information from the field level about party registration progress. The review process is underway. We will finish it within this week, as it is our responsibility and priority.”
