Fire Breaks Out in Police Vehicle in Front of Ramna Police Station

A police vehicle caught fire in front of Ramna Police Station in Dhaka. The fire was not caused by any criminal activity; it broke out suddenly while work was being done on the vehicle.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (November 12) at 11:00 am.

Golam Faruk, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramna Model Police Station, confirmed the matter. He said, “While working on the vehicle, a battery connection short-circuited, causing a sudden fire. The fire was later brought under control, and no one was injured. The incident occurred due to a mistake by the vehicle’s mechanic.”

Earlier this morning, a microbus caught fire in Uttara. Two units of the Fire Service later controlled the fire.

Rafi Al Faruk, duty officer at the Fire Service control room, said, “In the morning, we received information that a HICE microbus caught fire on Jasim Uddin Road in Uttara. Our two units reached the site and brought the fire under control. The fire started due to engine overheating.” He added that no one was injured.

According to the Fire Service’s preliminary assessment, the fire could also have originated from a faulty engine or short circuit. The front part of the microbus was burned.

Airport Police Station OC Taslima Akter said, “This is not a terrorist act. The fire occurred due to an engine fault while the vehicle was moving. Later, the driver left the vehicle by the roadside and ran around. We could not find him at the scene but later made contact with him.”
