A tragic road accident in Mahadebpur Upazila, Naogaon, has claimed the lives of five people and left one seriously injured. The incident occurred on Saturday, 31 January, at approximately 8:00 a.m.
According to police and local sources, the victims were travelling to the Mahadebpur market in two battery-operated vans carrying raw turmeric and eggplants. The vans, operated by local farmers and traders from Nurpur village in Enayetpur Union, were en route when disaster struck. As they reached the Patkathi Shibpur area, a sand-laden dump truck heading towards Nozipur collided violently with the vans.
Three individuals died instantly at the scene, while the others were rushed to the Mahadebpur Upazila Health Complex. Tragically, two more succumbed to their injuries on the way. One van driver, identified as Samanta (30), son of Romesh from the same village, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
