Foreign Affairs Adviser to Depart for the United States Today

Foreign Affairs Adviser Mr. Md. Tawhid Hossain is set to leave Dhaka today, Sunday, 27 July, en route to the United States to attend a high-level international conference at the United Nations Headquarters, which will focus on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian crisis and the implementation of a two-state solution.

The two-day ministerial-level conference is scheduled to take place in New York on 28 and 29 July. It is being jointly organised by France and Saudi Arabia in accordance with the United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/79/81, which was adopted in December 2024.

Mr. Hossain is expected to actively participate in the discussions, seeking to reinvigorate support for a two-state solution in light of the ongoing humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza. The conference will also be attended by foreign ministers from various countries and senior UN officials.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that Adviser Hossain will depart Sunday morning and is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on 1 August.

This high-level UN conference is being regarded as a significant global initiative to build consensus on governance in Gaza, ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid, and strengthen international recognition of the State of Palestine.
