Foreign Revolver and Live Ammunition Seized in Rajshahi

In a significant law enforcement operation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has recovered a foreign-made revolver and three rounds of live ammunition from the Shah Makhdum area of Rajshahi city. The seizure took place in the early hours of Sunday, shortly after 12:30 a.m., highlighting the authorities’ vigilance against illegal firearms in urban areas.

According to a press release issued by RAB on Monday, 16 March, the operation was conducted based on precise intelligence reports. Officers targeted the south of Shah Makhdum Police Station, specifically the Nawda Para locality, where the illegal weaponry was found in an abandoned state. The revolver was identified as being manufactured in the United States, and all items recovered were handed over to the local police station for further legal processing.

RAB officials emphasised that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illicit firearms and enhance public safety in Rajshahi. They noted that the seizure of even a single foreign-made revolver represents a substantial preventive measure against potential criminal activity.

Details of Seized Items

Item Quantity Country of Manufacture Condition
Revolver 1 United States Abandoned, usable
Live Ammunition 3 rounds Not specified Usable

Law enforcement sources further revealed that Rajshahi has witnessed multiple recoveries of both domestic and foreign weapons over recent months. Such interventions play a pivotal role in disrupting illegal arms networks, and the RAB has vowed to maintain regular patrols and targeted operations throughout the city.

The Shah Makhdum Police Station, in coordination with RAB, has assured the public that strict legal measures will follow against any individuals found connected to the illicit possession or distribution of firearms. These coordinated efforts not only enhance public security but also reinforce confidence in law enforcement agencies.

Security analysts noted that even small-scale seizures of weapons can significantly reduce the risk of violent incidents, particularly in densely populated urban neighbourhoods. They urged citizens to report suspicious activity to authorities, thereby contributing to a safer community.

This recent recovery marks the latest in a series of successful operations by RAB in Rajshahi. In the previous year alone, authorities confiscated over fifty illegal firearms, including both domestic and imported weapons. Officials stress that consistent intelligence-led operations remain essential to maintaining law and order and preventing potential crimes.

The operation underscores the RAB’s commitment to safeguarding public safety and demonstrates the importance of collaboration between intelligence services and local police forces in addressing the challenges posed by illegal arms circulation.
