Former Member of Parliament Golam Maula Roni expressed sharp criticism and posted a sarcastic remark regarding the recent removal of stones from the White Stone area of Volaganj, Sylhet.

On Wednesday afternoon (13 August), Roni shared a post on his Facebook page, stating: “The White Stone area of Volaganj had become overrun with weeds! Patriotic people painstakingly and willingly removed the stones themselves! Now the entire area is gleaming with sand!”

He further noted that stones obstructing the river’s flow had also been cleared by these patriotic locals, improving the river’s navigability. He added: “As a result, fish, water, and even more stones can now freely arrive from India without hindrance!”

Roni’s post included a broader, sarcastic reflection on the efforts, warning in jest: “If the patriotic people could carry out similar ‘reset button’ operations in rivers, dams, and coasts across the country, soon the entire nation would turn into a desert like the Arab region! Beneath the desert, oil would lie in abundance! Thousands of camels, ostriches, and sheep would roam! And the locals would become Arab-style traders, hiring Indians to set up farms!”
