Abu Alam Mohammad Shahid Khan, a former government secretary, along with five activists of the Awami League, has been arrested in a police operation conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB).
On Monday, 8 September, Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman of the DMP confirmed the arrest of former secretary Abu Alam Shahid Khan. He has been taken into custody under a case registered with Shahbagh Police Station.
Shahid Khan had recently drawn public attention through his participation in various television talk shows.
According to a brief issued by the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, a total of six individuals were arrested, including Shahid Khan and five others who had participated in a flash rally (Jhatika Michil).
The brief did not specify the exact time or location of their arrests.
The DMP stated that the operation was carried out in response to allegations that the flash rally in the capital involved attempts to incite disorder and disrupt public peace. In addition to Shahid Khan, the five other participants were detained from the site, and subsequent legal action has been taken against all six individuals.
