Four Bangladeshi Expats Die Oman Crash

Four Bangladeshi expatriates tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Muscat, the capital of Oman, early on Thursday, 1 January. The victims, aged between 31 and 43, were commuting to work when their vehicle collided with another car in the Aziba area of the city.

According to sources within the Bangladeshi community in Oman, the accident occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. The victims were travelling in a private vehicle when the collision took place. They were rushed to nearby hospitals in critical condition, but despite medical intervention, none of them survived.

The victims’ bodies have been preserved at the Medical City Military Hospital (MCMSS) in the Rysail Madinat Al-Tabba area of Muscat, pending formalities.

The driver of the vehicle, a Bangladeshi national identified as Saeed, is currently receiving intensive medical care at Kola Hospital in Muscat. He is reported to be in a critical condition. Saeed’s family originates from Comilla in Bangladesh.

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Oman has confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation. The embassy has assured that following the completion of the necessary legal procedures, the bodies of the deceased will be repatriated to Bangladesh. The embassy is also providing support and guidance to the families of the victims during this distressing time.

This tragic accident has cast a shadow of grief over the Bangladeshi community in Oman. Community members have expressed profound sorrow and are calling for improved road safety measures, particularly for early-morning commuters. The incident underscores the ongoing need for vigilance and safer transportation conditions for expatriates in the Gulf region.

Authorities in Oman are expected to release an official report on the accident after completing their investigation. Meanwhile, local Bangladeshi associations have extended condolences and urged all expatriates to exercise caution while travelling.
